Business liability
Provides coverage if you’re liable for damage to another person or other people’s belongings, including those of your client. This insurance is active during your shifts via Level.Works.
What is business liability insurance?
This type of insurance protects you if you’re liable for damage to a person (‘personal injury’) or other people’s belongings (‘material damage’). You’re also covered if you accidentally damage the items that you work with during your shift (this is called ‘care, custody and control’, and is specifically about the items that belong to your client), so you can truly work worry-free!
About damages caused with e-bikes
You’re also covered if you ride an e-bike during your shift and damage something or someone. But be careful! To make sure you’re covered, the e-bike needs to check all these boxes:
- The e-bike has a maximum speed of 25 kilometres per hour; and
- Doesn’t need compulsory insurance, like mopeds and cars do; and
- The e-bike is well maintained, the brakes and lights are in good condition.
Some example scenarios that are covered
- You’re working in a warehouse, moving boxes. You briefly put a box down in a random spot. Another worker is also moving boxes and doesn’t see the one you put down. They trip and fall, and need to go to the emergency room. (Covered: personal injury)
- You return to your shift’s meeting point on your e-bike. You park your bike, or so you thought. The bike wasn’t steady, and fall against a parked car. It leaves an ugly scratch. (Covered: other people’s belongings & e-bike that meets the requirements)
- You’re scanning tickets at a music festival. Suddenly there’s trouble. You spring into action to resolve the situation, and drop your scanner in the process. You’ve accidentally stepped on it, and broke the screen. (Covered: client’s belongings you work with)
Some example scenarios that are not covered
- You’re on your way with a delivery on your e-bike. You need to suddenly brake, and fall off your bike. Thankfully you’re not badly injured, but your new jeans have a big hole in them. (Not covered: own belongings)
- You’re working as a battery swapper, and you’re out with your client’s van. During parking, you fail to see a post. You drive into it, leaving a big dent in the car. (Not covered: motor vehicles)
- There’s a colleague at the warehouse that keeps annoying you constantly. At some point, you’ve had enough and confront them about it. They’re clearly looking for trouble, and you get into a fight. You hit them hard and break their nose. (Not covered: intent)
